LynCare is a care-coordination app for self-directed care. If you're joining an existing care circle, ask your Care Manager for an invite code — you don't need anything from us.

Getting started

What is LynCare, and who is it for?

LynCare is a care-coordination app for self-directed care — where a participant, or their family, hires and manages their own caregivers instead of going through an agency. It keeps everyone in the care circle on the same page: shift clock-in and clock-out, medications (a full eMAR plus PRN tracking), daily tasks, shift notes, a shared calendar, and team messages. It's built for participants, their families, and the caregivers and Care Managers who support them.

LynCare also supports family-directed care through family-directed mode — where a family member or advocate runs the circle on a participant's behalf when they can't manage it themselves.

What's the difference between self-directed and family-directed care?

Both let a person get care outside a traditional agency. In self-directed care, the participant hires, manages, and directs their own caregivers. In family-directed care, a family member or advocate does that on the participant's behalf — for when the participant can't manage it themselves. LynCare supports both — family-directed care runs through family-directed mode.

How do I join a care circle I've been invited to?

Download the app, sign in, and enter the invite code your Care Manager gave you — that's all you need from us. If you don't have a code yet, ask whoever set up the circle.

How do I start a new care circle?

Get the app and choose “Create a Care Circle.” You can add the participant, invite caregivers, and start tracking care in a few minutes. Want a hand getting set up? Email support@lyncare.net.

Is LynCare on iPhone?

Yes — LynCare is available for iPhone on the App Store, and for Android on Google Play. You can also start from Get the app.

Cost & privacy

Is LynCare really free?

Yes — LynCare is free during early access, with no ads, no analytics, and no data selling. If early access ever ends, existing care circles will get clear advance notice before anything changes, and your circle's records are always yours to export from inside the app.

Is LynCare HIPAA compliant?

LynCare is built privacy-first — no ads, no analytics, no data selling, lock-screen privacy, and note-visibility tiers so sensitive details reach only the right people.

That said, LynCare is not a HIPAA-covered service, and it isn't intended for organizations acting as HIPAA-covered entities or business associates. If your use of LynCare would be subject to HIPAA, please review our Terms of Service first. For families and individual self-directed-care arrangements, LynCare is simply a private place to coordinate care.

How is sensitive information protected?

Every note has an audience — public to the circle, admin only, or Care Manager only — so private observations reach only the right people. Lock-screen notifications show just a category, never medication names or medical details, and care records are preserved to medical-record standards. The full details are in our Privacy Policy; privacy questions can also go to privacy@lyncare.net.

How do I delete my account?

Open Settings inside the app to delete your account, or see our Account Deletion page for exactly what happens to your data (and how a participant's care history is handled).

Using LynCare

Can I use LynCare if the person receiving care can't use a phone?

Yes. Family-directed mode lets a family member or advocate run the circle on the participant's behalf, and the participant stays at the center of their own care.

Can I export records for a Medicaid reassessment or records request?

Yes. The admin team or the participant can build clean exports of medications, health events, notes, tasks, and shifts as PDF, CSV, and Excel — made for reassessments, audits, and the doctor's office.

What happens to a participant's records when a caregiver leaves?

The participant's history stays intact. Records are preserved to medical-record standards, so care continuity and the record survive even as caregivers come and go.

I found a bug, or I need help.

The fastest way to report a bug is the in-app feedback form — tap the menu on any screen → Feedback, and you can attach a screenshot. For anything else, email support@lyncare.net and we'll get back to you within 1–2 business days.

Key terms

Self-directed care

A model of care (often funded through Medicaid waivers) where the participant, or their family, hires and manages their own caregivers directly instead of going through an agency.

Family-directed care & family-directed mode

Family-directed care is when a family member or advocate directs a participant's care on their behalf. Family-directed mode is the LynCare setting that enables it — for circles where the participant can't run the app themselves.

Care Circle

Everyone involved in one person's care in LynCare — the participant, their caregivers, the Care Manager, and any family or advocates.

Participant

The person receiving care. A participant can be in either program — self-directed care (they direct their own care) or family-directed care (a family member or advocate directs it on their behalf).

Caregiver

Someone who works shifts providing care — clocking in, giving medications, completing tasks, and logging notes as they go.

Care Manager

The person who runs the Care Circle: staffing, medication schedules, task plans, approvals, and oversight.

Visibility tiers

Who can see a given note. Every note is set to one of three tiers: public (the whole Care Circle), admin only, or Care Manager only.

eMAR

Electronic Medication Administration Record — the running log of scheduled medications, with dose windows and a record of who gave each dose.

PRN

“As-needed” medication (from the Latin pro re nata) — tracked in LynCare with dose windows and daily maximums.

ADLs

Activities of Daily Living — everyday care tasks such as hygiene, dressing, and meals, tracked alongside weekly tasks.
